Every Wednesday from 6:00-7:00, you can find a group of quiet teens with active minds working diligently on academics in our Learning Center and Tech Center here at St. Stephen’s. Academic Night is a time when middle school and high school aged students are invited to enjoy a healthy snack (provided by Jim, a volunteer), work with a tutor on various subjects, and/or work independently on their homework.
This year we are grateful to have 8 volunteers working with our students on various subjects including Pre-Calculus, Chemistry, English, French, and even Latin! Students also take full advantage of our Tech Center to do research and edit essays. We are very proud to report that after just four weeks of Academic Night, we have an average of 14 students coming each week and a group of committed volunteers who are working together to make education their number one priority.
